Description
Construction of Academie Nationale de Musique - Theatre de l’Opéra actually began in 1862. Believe it or not, the original building's foundation was laid upon a SWAMP and when discovered, it took about eight months to drain! Then a war and the fall of Napoleon III caused lengthy pauses in its construction. And then it burned down in 1873 and the architect, Charles Garnier finally finished his work in 1874. In 1978 it was renamed Theatre National de l'Opera de Paris and then in 1989, to honor its architect, it was named Palais Garnier! We were not fortunate enough to tour the inside of this Paris landmark, I was able to capture a few picturesque vistas! I took my original photograph through one creative editing process rendering it as if painted.
